Walking Box Ranch is open every first Saturday of the month for a morning of volunteer activities followed by a tour and a special guest speaker or feature! Learn more about Avi Kwa Ame National Monument while also helping to restore, maintain and preserve the historic cattle ranch and desert home of silent film stars Rex Bell & Clara Bow.
Walking Box Ranch is the home base for all of the amazing events coming up during our Bioblitz Weekend (April 25-27). We could use a hand (or 40!) getting it ready for visitors inside and out. Come on down to the ranch to appreciate this beautiful part of Nevada’s history and to help us make it shine.

Get the ranch ready for our upcoming bioblitz weekend by helping us with projects inside the house and on the ranch grounds.
Continue work in the Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness to help set posts that will demarcate pull-out parking & camping areas while protecting the surrounding landscape. Volunteers should be prepared to do lifting, digging and moving of posts.
Volunteering Details:
Come in sturdy, closed-toed shoes, clothing that protects you from the sun and potentially pointy plant life, and bring a large water bottle and a picnic lunch. We'll have gloves and other protective gear, tools, beverages and snacks.

9:00-12:00PM - Wee Thump Conservation Project
11:30AM-12:15 - Tour of the Walking Box Ranch house
For the Wee Thump conservation project, meet at Walking Box Ranch at 9am and be prepared to volunteer until noon. Bring water, sturdy shoes, work gloves and snacks.
