National Public Lands Day

We will gather to clean up, remove non-native weeds, and conduct minor maintenance to landscaping at the historic Walking Box Ranch, near Searchlight, Nevada, newly designated Avi Kwa Ame National Monument. The historic property lies in the Piute Valley, and served as the ranch and home to two popular Hollywood stars in the 1930s. Acquired by the Bureau of Land Management in 2005, the property serves as a prime example of Spanish Colonial Revival style ranch houses. With this project, the BLM strives to help maintain the landscaping that is so much a part of the the site. The Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service and Friends of Avi Kwa Ame invite you to participate in helping to clean and improve the site for the enjoyment of all Americans.
