Walking Box Ranch is open every first Saturday of the month for a morning of volunteer activities followed by a tour and a special guest speaker or feature! Learn more about Avi Kwa Ame National Monument while also helping to restore, maintain and preserve the historic cattle ranch and desert home of silent film stars Rex Bell & Clara Bow.
This month, we’re rolling up our sleeves to give Walking Box Ranch some love!
Join us as we:
Get the main house of the ranch ready to receive it’s original furniture.
Begin work installing displays that will bring the story of Walking Box Ranch to life.
Spruce up existing non-maintained trails in preparation for a new public access nature trail on the property.
Help make the bunk house more functional for presentations and screenings.
Volunteering Details:
We’ll be breaking up into teams to tackle the projects above. Come in sturdy, closed-toed shoes, clothing that protects you from the sun and potentially pointy plant life, and bring a large water bottle and a picnic lunch. We'll have gloves and other protective gear, tools, beverages and snacks.
9:00 - Check in and safety briefing
9:00-2:00PM - Volunteering
Please RSVP so that we can plan the day’s work around the number of expected volunteers (and so that we have enough snacks!).
